ChickenClip
Role: Project Manager
Skills: SolidWorks CAD, design iteration, human centered product design
ChickenClip started as a group project, and I took the initiative during my internship at the Segal Design Institute to make ChickenClip a market-ready product. I implemented feedback from industry professionals given to me in design reviews and iterated on the design in SolidWorks CAD. This clip declutters floor space in classrooms by attaching bags directly to tables/desks using spring mechanisms, keeping your bag clean and your materials more easily accessible.
Above is a picture of the two main components of ChickenClip: the blue top part of the clip, and the grey bottom part of the clip.
This picture shows the ChickenClip in action, holding my backpack onto my desk so I can easily access my materials when I do homework.
Because of my team’s and my efforts, we made the ChickenClip market ready in just 12 weeks. This was done by countless iterations on SolidWorks and biweekly meetings with industry professionals.
As project manager for this product, I learned a great deal about the design process. I also improved my leadership and communication skills through delegating tasks to a team of individuals with varying levels of product design experience, and knowing which tasks I had to complete myself as a project manager.
